Princess Winter is admired for her grace, kindness and beauty, despite the scars on her face. She’s said to be even more breath-taking than her stepmother, Queen Levana…
When Winter develops feelings for the handsome palace guard, Jacin, she fears the evil Queen will crush their romance before it has a chance to begin.
But there are stirrings against the Queen across the land. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even find the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter claim their happily ever afters by defeating Levana once and for all?
❝ She would be brave. She would be heroic. She would make her own destiny. ❞
Whoo! I finally did it! I finally finished the series. It was totally worth picking up! I see why so many people love it and my only regret is not reading it sooner.
Things moved faster in this book than in all the others. Every one of the main characters from the previous books is doing their part to help Cinder overthrow Levanna and the romance also escalates in this final book (which is a great plus for people like me who love romance).
Of course, the couple I was most invested in was Cress and Thorne. The development that Thorne goes through is everything I wanted! I honestly loved how he admitted his faults and did his best to be someone worthy of Cress. I think they were the most adorable thing ever!
❝ “And they all lived happily to the end of their days.” ❞
On the other hand, I didn’t care too much about Jacin and Winter. Because Winter had lunar sickness it kind of dulls her personality. Yes, she was kind, but she rambles and ends up feeling kind of far away. I didn’t connect to her the way I did with the other characters. Which is why things felt a little so whenever a chapter was from her point of view.
The ending worked out very well, and I liked how things between Kai and Cinder we left off. It didn’t write the “happily ever after” I was expecting, but rather left it with a positive note and the potential for so much more between them.
Overall this was a solid ending to a great series. It had action, romance, character development, and a fast pace. If you love retellings or romance I highly recommend the Lunar Chronicles!
