The Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event that was created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now hosted by Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads, and Katie at Never Not Reading. It was inspired by the 1961 classic song by Neil Sedaka and created to ignite fun bookish discussions among readers and bloggers.

My Thoughts

I wasn’t really too sure what to put down because I haven’t actually read any books about pirates. Buuuuut, I did read a sample of this for NetGalley and I kinda liked it so I figured that it counts lol.

So for me, this is more like which pirate book I’d like to read the most. I really like this one for the female power angle because the main character leads an all-female crew against a warlord who murdered her family. There also seems to be a potential for betrayal and/or romance so I am so down for this book! I think it’ll be a lot of fun. I know in the sample it felt a little slow, but it was only a couple of chapters and didn’t really give it much room to develop the plot in that length, so I’m hoping it picks up more past those first couple of chapters.
