Book Haul: January 2019

I actually did really well this month and didn’t spend as much!

The Highlights

King of Scars: When Leigh Bardugo first announced that she was starting a new series I was so pumped. It was around the time that I finished reading her Six of Crows duology so I was totally in love with her writing and ready for whatever else she would put out. Of course, I hadn’t read the Grisha trilogy yet (because I’m a weirdo and read the series out of order), but I’m doing that now so that I can start King of Scars soon since it apparently has a character from her first series in it.

Slayer: You guys all know I’m a huge Kiersten White fan, so I was already sold on this book just by having her be the author, but then when it turned out to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer related? I was dying to get my hands on it! I tried really hard to get an ARC for a while, but it didn’t happen (oh well!).

The Wicked King:  I also really love Holly Black so even though I haven’t taken up starting this series I was super excited to see the cover for the next book. I just know it’s going to be amazing so I had to get it. I’ll probably start the series this year since I can binge read two of the books haha.

Song of the Dead: Loved the first book so of course, I had to get the next one! The covers are so pretty and I really love the magic and world in this one. Plus, with how things left off in the last book I just had to know what would happen next!

A Conspiracy of Stars:  I’ve heard really great things about this book from my best friend so I was happy to catch this deal this month. Nothing better than getting a book for under $3 haha.

Stormcaster: Also happy to get this one. I never entirely finished her Heir series (but I plan to) but I remember loving the writing so I’ve been keeping an eye out for her new books so that I can also binge read them.

ARCs: I got sooooooooo many ❤

☆ The Raven’s Tale: I really love that this is a YA Fantasy/Historical Fiction inspired by Edgar Allan Poe! The concept of Muses being these strange creatures that lead artists to ruin really appeals to me and it seems just dark and eerie enough to be fun. I’m really looking forward to reading this one!

Spin the Dawn: I absolutely love the cover on this one and I’ve seen that some of the story is supposed to be kind of like Mulan. I’m not sure in what way, but I love Mulan so I’m excited to check it out!

☆ Never-Contented Things: I love anything fairy related and I love stories that are centered around siblings so this one should be good. I feel like every book does fairies a little different so I’m curious to see how the ones in this one will be.

☆ The Gilded Wolves: I’ve already heard some great things about this book floating around so I got this on NetGalley. The cover on this is gorgeous and the story makes me think of Six of Crows a little bit (with the crew hunting an artifact and their complex backgrounds). I’m hoping I love it just as much as everyone else seems to!

The Everlasting Rose: This one blew my mind because it was actually a wish on NetGalley that the publisher granted and I’ve never had that happen before! So right away I was super excited to get this book. I love the cover on since this is a sequel I’ll have to read the first book before I get to this–but oh my gosh, I love the concept for Belles in this series! I think I’m going to really enjoy this one and I can’t wait!

☆ Mirror, Mirror: The same day that I was granted The Everlasting Rose I was also granted Mirror, Mirror, so it was a doubly great day haha! I love fairy tales and retellings and this book is just that so it’s perfect for me. I’ve heard some of these are pretty good so hopefully, I like it!

The Winter of the Witch:  I really enjoyed the first two books in the series and now it’s sadly time to see it come to an end. It’ll be bittersweet to finish this book and see Vasya’s journey finally come to an end.

☆ The Deceivers: I can already sense the drama coming my way. A school for con artists? Yes! This one is bound to be a lot of fun and I also see some (complicated) romance coming my way~

The Blood Heir: (Ooops, accidentally put this one with the ebooks but let’s just ignore that) I am loving the storyline for this one! It reminds me of the Grisha trilogy just a bit when it comes to the magic and how people fear/hunt people with it. I think I’m really going to enjoy this one, can’t wait to start it!

Are any of these books on your TBR list?
