Here we are, continuing my collection of posts regarding all my book purchases since my last major update. Fortunately, I’ll be all caught up after one more post. Without further ado, here is the next batch of book purchases I made.
I own the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan and when I saw Balefire I thought it’d be an interesting read. It’s about Thais Allard who is orphaned after her widowed father dies in a car accident. She’s forced to live with a strange in New Orleans and it’s while living there that she is met with an unexpected surprise: she has a twin. They then find out that they come from a family of witches and that they must work together to complete a ritual to help their coven. Besides the fact that it seemed interesting I just love the cover.
The Immortal Beloved series is another one from Cate Tiernan that has an interesting storyline. Nastasya has a history of drug problems, but when she witnesses her best friend, a Dark Immortal, torture a human she decides she’s had enough. She seeks help at a drug rehab for Immortals and even meets a guy who seems to be connected to her somehow. Just when she starts to get her life together she finds out someone is trying to kill her. The only thing that irked me about this is that they don’t have the matching cover for this series in hardcover. For some reason, the hardcover image they used doesn’t match the rest of the series.
I picked up the Blue Bloods series because it’s supposed to be about vampires in modern day New York. Schuyler is a student at a private school and it’s during her sophomore year that she starts to see blue veins on her arms and she craves blood. She gets flashbacks of the past and she starts to wonder about the secrets surrounding the Blue Bloods, although it may put her in danger. I was able to pick up most of this series from BookOff for $1 each so definitely a good purchase.
Here’s the synopsis for the Witch series: Kerry takes up a job at a resort in California and is enjoying her summer when a stranger lands at her door. He says he’s being hunted by a witch named Season, and even though she and her friends don’t believe in witches they start to. Along the way, Kerry starts to have feelings for this man, Daniel. It’s not long before they’re all forced to work together because now Season is hunting them too.
Lourdes recommended the Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea duology to me when we last went to BookOff. Since both books in the series were there I took her up on it. When River rents the small guest house behind Violet’s home strange things start to happen. There’s something eerie about him, but at the same time she can’t help falling in love. I think Lourdes may have mentioned that the boy is supposed to be a demon or the devil, not too sure, but I guess I can always read and find out!
